Denmark September 2015

Renault Zoe Goes Ultrasonic

With 243 units sold, the Danish EV market doubled sales regarding the same month last year, with the EV Share jumping to 1,44%, a significant departure from the 0.88% of last year, with the YTD sales now at 2.237 units, it's more than the number of EVs sold in the two previous years...Together!

After the BMW i3 in August, this time it was the Renault Zoe's turn to impress, selling 89 units, a new personal best, allowing it to rise to #4 YTD and end the month as the Second Best Selling model, only behind the melting-hot Tesla Model S, which has achieved another three digit sales number (121 new Teslas), the fourth in a row, a performance that not only has surpassed its direct competitors, but has put them to shame (The Audi A6 sold 84 units last month, the Merc E-Class, 55 units and the BMW 5-Series, only 23...).

Looking elsewhere, not much else is happening, the VW e-Golf surpassed its e-Up! little brother and it's now alone in #6, while the Merc B-Class ED is failing to confirm the good indications left late last year, it now only #11, with...11 units.

Regarding the manufacturers ranking, Tesla if far ahead everyone else, with 38% share, followed by BMW (23%) and Nissan (21%).

A final mention to Fuel Cell Vehicle sales, besides the three new Hyundai ix35 FCEV registered last month, making it 13 YTD, we must mention the landing of the first Toyota Mirai in Denmark, ready to terrorize whoever comes by...

  1. Does VW not sell the GTE and the A3 in this market or are you not able to get accurate numbers on these models

    1. When i don't have a clue on how a certain model is doing, i just don't include it, that's the case with those two, i don't know how much they are selling.

My unqualified guess would be...Not much.

  2. Assuming of course that people actually buy them, will FCEVs be included in the tables going forward?

    1. A few months ago i made the same question here and the answer i got from viewers, was that as current FCEV's can't be plugged in, no, they shouldn't be counted together with plug-ins.

But if FCEV sales do take-off, like two digit sales per month, i will make a separate ranking for them.

  3. Thank you Jose, FCEV are electric vehicles and the most advanced ones with zero emission compared with PHEV still high ones. It is really neccessary to include them!
